Roy Wood and Ross Wood letters, 1927-1929. 1927-1929.

This collection primarily consists of holograph and typescript correspondence between Ross and Roy Wood. The bulk of the correspondence is a record of activities associated with the settlement of the Butler estate and the management of Ross's Iowa property, although the letters also include some discussion of family activities, farming and land issues, various family illnesses, local politics and a problem with thistles in Iowa. Correspondence between E.F. Morris and Ross Wood (2 letters) discuss business relating to the Butler estate. Two letters from Walter Dexter to Ross Wood relate to the transfer of Ross's property to Whittier College.

Herbert Ross Wood (Ross) moved to California with his family in 1919. His brother, Burton Roy Wood (Roy), stayed behind on the family farm in New Providence, Iowa. Ross inherited some Iowa farm property as the main beneficiary of the estate of Elgar Butler. Roy served as the administrator of his brother's affairs in Iowa until the property was transferred to Whittier College in exchange for educational opportunities for Ross's children.
